Art Play

I'm playing around with different mediums at the moment and I'm in love with chalk pastels and inks. This piece is one I've been working on as exploration for an exhibition I'm considering submitting for. I'll see where it leads to...

New Illustrations

Boy am I glad its Monday today. Not something you usually hear someone say but its true because last week (or maybe the last two weeks) was just super crazy busy. You know when all of a sudden you have all these things to do? But now its Monday and they're all done. Yay! Time to organise my Australia Day BBQ.

One of the 'things' I did last week were these 4 illustrations. I turned them into greeting cards that I had printed for the North Melbourne Market. They looked so cute (and professional hehe) and they got a really good response so I'm going to do a few more over the next few weeks.

Basically the idea behind them was to juxtapose black and white realistic drawings with colourful fantasy elements. So I drew the sketches and then added the colour elements on Illustrator. It was fun and a great way to learn how to use one of those super-annoying-takes-lots-of-hours-to-figure-them-out kinda programs like Illustrator and Photoshop. I can definitely say I like Illustrator a lot more than Photoshop. Hope you like them!

New Year, New Toys!

Wow how fast did December fly by! And here we are in the New Year - woohoo. I always love the energy of the new year, it's a great time to reassess, plan and scheme for the coming months. And trust me I have been scheming up lots of new things so I can't wait to roll them out.
In the meantime I was very spoilt this Christmas and Santa got me a new Canon digital SLR. Yay! I can't wait to dive in to some photography. I've been holidaying in Perth for the last 2 weeks and on my last night I took these photos to experiment with the camera and remind myself what the hell shutter speed and aperture do again.

The pictures are of Como jetty - one of my favourite spiritual places in Perth.

How beautiful are clouds. I always love looking at the different patterns and shapes and Perth really does get some amazing skies.

Here's to the New Year and looking skywards...
