My First Web Press

I'm happy to let you all know that I've given my first interview online about Emiti and you can find it over at Made N Found. Thanks heaps to Kass for asking me! Kass is keen to grow the crafting community and bring us all together in a way that helps everyone so check it out.

I also had a ball at the North Melbourne Market on Sunday. I had lots of nice comments on my wheatbags and I think I had the best spot in the place. Right next to a massive window overlooking Errol St with the sun shining on my back all day. Ahhh. I was really happy with the way my stall looked too. I'm getting there!

Etsy Craft Party

What an awesomely fun night was had at Threaden for Etsy's birthday. We came, we ate (way too much chocolate), we crafted (kind of) and talked away the hours.

Here's Teegs, Sasha, Lara and me. And what's that in Lara's hand? A mug of tea you say?

Nope. We're all class in the crafty world. Pink Champagne in stylish white mugs. But I think it tastes better in a mug. It went a little too well with all the raspberry chocolate Lindt balls being consumed.

I also blame the champas and the talking for my attempt at "crafting". I think about 1% of my focus was on it but hey I gave it a go!

Shopping!

Ah love a good bout of shopping. This is the lastest batch of fabric for my next run of wheatbags and eyepillows. I got 2 orders this week which was very exciting. One from a new stockist and one from Fruit Peddlars who tell me they are walking out the door. Yay!
I stopped in at Modish Market after a late breakfast today and I couldn't resist getting a few things. This gorgeous coin purse is from The Rabbit and The Duck. There were so many beautiful fabrics I had trouble deciding but I'm into burnt orange at the moment.

This silk and felt neckwarmer from olofsdaughter is already rocking my world. I wore it all day and its soooo warm!

This is the latest edition to my bedroom wall. I found it in an op shop yesterday and I just had to take it home with me.

The bag that took forever....

Who would've thought a bag could give me so much trouble. This is my second attempt at a professional looking bag and seeing as my first attempt was so successful and easy I thought i'd get a little ambitious. But I was way in over my head with this one. My first struggle was working with the curves. I had no idea two curved edges won't sew right sides together. I still haven't figured it out so if anyone has any tips for this self taught sewer... In the end I just sewed the curved pieces onto the base colour instead of the being apart of the actual bag. Oh well. But then the worst trouble I had was with the strap. It drove me insane! I was far too impatient and in the end it took me more time than if I'd just spent the time doing it slowly. Also my sewing machine is in desperate need of a service and consequently sewing straight lines is like trying to drive a car straight with bad wheel alignment. I got there in the end but I'm still not happy with the strap. Luckily a few days ago I came across a brilliant way of making a padded bag strap that is so quick and easy. I love it! My saviour was this blog post by Lisa at U-Handbag. Thanks to Faint Impressions for introducing me to the wealth of knowledge that is U-Handbag. She has lots of great advice for sewing. Phew no more disastrous hair tearing attempts at making a padded strap. On a funny note my boyfriend took one look at this bag and said it looks like a leprechaun's tuxedo. Hmmm.

Yarraville Retrospective

I had a great time on Sunday doing my very first market at Yarraville Markets despite having to wear 6 layers just to keep warm from the cold weather. Unfortunately it was very quiet and I only sold 2 things to my lovely friend (thanks Alyce!) but I'm glad I got the time to take it all in and I was able to get around and have a chat with the other stallholders.
I bought two cute little notebooks from Found N Bound. One for my friend and of course one for me. I say a girl can never have enough notebooks lying around. These gorgeous softies are by Victoria from Red Tree Studio and you can find them here.
I loved these beautiful illustrations by Made N Found. It was her first market as well and her stall looked great.
These are Donna's softies and it was also their first outing so I hope they enjoyed the day out. They all have their own names and were very adorable.

And of course here's my stall. It was good to see what people were interested in and what they weren't. I don't think anyone looked at the cuffs and necklaces I had made but I got lots of good comments about my bag you see there in the middle. So I'm just going to keep plodding on with experimenting and see if I find something I really enjoy making, that's different and something people want to buy!

Yarraville Market
